The Recyclibrary

What we do…

Here at the Recyclibrary, we believe in books.  Even those you may have already given up on.

Books are hardy, portable, sometimes beautiful, and unlike e-readers, eminently recyclable. We believe that they should be given the opportunity to move freely, to inspire new readers, and that what goes around, comes around.

We welcome all kinds of books - big and small, old and new, popular and obscure, and that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

There are our hardbacks, tough like Bear Grylls, and not averse to taking off their dust jackets.  Softcovers, tender as a toddler’s kiss, but with less saliva. We welcome dog-eared doggerels and retro catalogues, and embrace fragile little zines, photocopied love letters to the world at large.   Our publications are diverse, but they all have one thing in common - real, beating, analogue paper hearts, thudding with a passion to share their ideas!

How does the Recyclibrary work?

All of the books in the Recyclibrary have been freely given by people who wanted to share them with others.

Perhaps you are haunted by a coven of under-loved books, skulking like emo teenagers in a dark corner of your house? Bring them in to the Recyclibrary!

We will sit them down with a nice cup of cocoa, talk to them about their feelings, give them a few tips on mascara application, and then lovingly rehome them with people who really get them.

What a lovely book!

See a book you like at one of our pop-up libraries?  Bring it to the counter, where a recyclibrarian will put a check-out slip in it, stamp it, and it’s yours to take!

Really really love your new book?

That’s okay.  We totally understand.

You can keep it for as long as you like.

But you know what they say - if you love something, set it free!

Yours in bookish enthusiasm,

The Recyclibrarians
